Bending Machine

Without knowing it, we constantly see machinery, homes, businesses, and cars that have parts to them that have been formed by a bending machine. The hydraulic pipe bending machine is designed to rapidly and precisely bend metal pipe to fit hundreds of applications.

 

Car Bodies Shaped by a Bending Machine

 

Basically our car bodies have been shaped by a sheet metal bending machine.  Within that car are the products of tube bending machines, and many other ingenious devices shape metal and plastic into functional pieces of gear that we can use.

 

For an industrial application bending machines use an adjustable feed to a fixed set of rollers, (also adjustable). Forcing pipe, sheet metal, or metal bar stock through a finely calibrated set of rollers at the proper angles will bend the material in any direction and to whatever curve is desired.  Matriculating the feed to either the right or left gives the technician unprecedented shaping possibilities.

 

Products Formed by a Bending Machine

 

There are thousands of products and parts that we touch each day that have been made by shaping foam and plastic.  Forming machines have been designed to create curved, hard surfaces that will give functionality and looks to everything from toasters to steering wheels.

 

The portable metal bending machine designed for diameters up to 3″ allow for either permanent installation or on-site custom work and can themselves be configured to operate horizontally or vertically.

 

Another advantage of these machines is the variable size and shape of their counterparts and the bending rollers. The bending of relatively thin-walled tube without mandrels is thus possible. Time-consuming preparation and additional lubrication are not necessary.

 

Combined Functions of a Bending Machine

 

Additionally, several devices can be integrated into the unit to combine functions during the bending process.  For example, a saw unit with a deburring machine, a ring cutting assembly, or flare unit for mandrels can be mounted in for concurrent application.  All functions are handled electro-hydraulically, or can be set for manual.

 

All types of pipe can be bent.  Whether steel, hot rolled steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, or plastic, all metals and most plastics will respond and hold tolerance. Fittings can be quickly changed out to handle a wide range of pipe diameters. The ability to fit two pipes or tubes together, (one end inside another), requires a mandrel machine.  Again a bending of the metal or plastic is accomplished.

 

 

The steel bar and sheet metal bending machine are necessarily less portable in all but a few models. The heavy configuration bending machine required to work and accurately control these larger materials necessitates size and weight.
